New Almaden Historic District is located along Almaden Road and along the way you will pass by a number of historic houses before reaching the park’s Hacienda entrance.  The history of New Almaden is intimately linked with the mining history of the park.  Bertram Road runs on the south side of Alamitos Creek and boasts several historic sites including the Hacienda Hotel site.  The Hacienda Hotel was first used as a boarding house for miners and in 1979 it became the home of the La Foret French restaurant.

The original site of the Quicksilver Mining Museum was at the Carson-Perham Adobe but had moved to one of the most significant buildings, La Casa Grande, which was built in 1854 as a hotel and later became the home of the mine manager.  Today it houses the Quicksilver Mining Museum.

The Almaden Quicksilver County Park takes up 4157 acres of steep hillsides, cool forests, open meadows, and deep valleys. It borders two long reservoirs and contains several small ponds. It is crisscrossed by trails, including 34.2 miles for hiking, 23 miles for equestrians, and 10 miles for bicycling.  A non-profit organization serves the park and sponsors an annual Pioneer Day.

There are plenty of events available to learn more about Quicksilver Park such as history tours by van, a history walk which ends with a tour of the Great Ranch House, healthy trails 5.2 mile hike, a study of native plants plus much more.
