Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League Partners with Extreme Fitness & Sports

logo: Almaden Valley Youth Soccer LeagueAlmaden Valley Youth Soccer League (AVYSL) has partnered with Extreme Fitness & Sports (EFS).

Under this new partnership, EFS has graciously agreed to provide AVYSL with a combination of training services, programs, and cash donations.

During Spring and Summer, EFS will be providing Speed, Agility & Quickness (SAQ) training sessions for AVYSL players in the league’s new Almaden Futbol Club. Players on AVYSL Comp and Select teams will get access to a mobile version of the EFS Training System.

EFS will also be donating 10% of every dollar back to the league for each AVYSL player who signs up for an EFS program at its training center. Funds donated by EFS will be used to help maintain fields and purchase more equipment for the league.

Players who take a program at the EFS facility receive more individualized and focused training, performance testing and re-testing, and use of state-of-the-art sports training machines and equipment.

Register for 2011 Almaden Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading

logo: Almaden Pop WarnerRegistration for 2011 Almaden Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading is now open. Almaden Pop Warner Cheer is for girls and boys ages 5-15, and football is for girls and boys ages 5-14.

Save $50 by taking advantage of the early bird registration offer. If you register by March 15, 2011, the registration fee for football is only $340 and cheer is only $200. Registration fees go up to $390 for football and $250 for cheer after March 15. You can register your child online.

Cheer requires an additional $255 uniform fee that includes the skirt, shell, liner, shoes, socks, pms, briefs, and bow. Football requires an additional $250 equipment deposit for helmet and pads.

Almaden Pop Warner Cheer will also be holding in-person registration on the following dates:

U.S. Baseball Academy’s 2011 Baseball Camps in Almaden Valley

Tryouts for the 2011 Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League Season

Play Flag Football League in Almaden Valley – Fall 2010 Season

Logo: Play Flag FootballPlay Flag Football league offers 5-on-5 non-contact flag football designed for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 15. Each team has eight to ten children.

The season consists of two practice weeks, one pre-season game, ten regular-season games, and an end of season playoff jamboree where teams play at least two additional games. All league play takes place on Sundays, and games last 45 minutes.

The price is $125 per player. Each player receives a team jersey, shorts, flags, mouthpiece, and league t-shirt. All players receive a participation trophy from the league at the end of the season.

Practice and games are held at Castillero Middle School in Almaden Valley. The Fall 2010 season begins October 10, 2010 and ends December 12, 2010. Register online by September 30, 2010.

Almaden Valley Youth Soccer League Project 40 Program – Register for Fall 2010

Logo: Alamden Valley Youth Soccer LeagueAlmaden Valley Youth Soccer League (AVYSL) has brought back Project 40 Program. The program is designed to give AVYSL players the opportunity to further develop their soccer skills and understanding of the game.

The program has been developed and will be run by the UK International Training Staff. Players are grouped by age, and receive age-appropriate training followed by a scrimmage.

Volunteer coaches and parents of participating players are encouraged to assist the UK trainers during the sessions. Volunteers will be instructed by the UK staff so they can help train the players and bring what they learn back to team practices.

Project 40 Program is held at Simonds Elementary School on Sundays, September 12, 2010 – October 17, 2010. U7 – U9 players (born between August 1, 2001 and July 31, 2004) play from 3:30pm – 4:45pm (5pm – 6:15pm on September 12, 2010 to work around the photograph schedule). U10 – U12 players (born between August 1, 1998 and July 31, 2001) play from 5pm – 6:45pm. The Project 40 Program is $40 per player. You can register online.

2nd Annual Leland High School Charger Invitational Golf Tournament

The tournament format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. The event features golf, tee prizes, lunch, on-course games and refreshments, raffle, silent auction, and awards dinner.

Register as a single, twosome, or foursome. The fee is $150 per person. Proceeds support the Leland Athletics program.

Register for the Almaden Valley Youth Soccer 2010 Fall Recreational Soccer Program

Almaden Valley Soccer Player Matthew GoldsteinRegistration for the Almaden Valley Youth Soccer 2010 Fall Recreational (U6-U16) and Kicker’s Club (U5) programs is now open.

You can register online through June 6, 2010. The price to register is $175 for U6-U16 players, and $120 for U5 players (2010-2011 Player Age Matrix). No paperwork is required at the time of registration. A $25 fee will be charged for late registrations after June 6, 2010.

Registration officially closes on June 20, 2010. Online registration will remain open after June 20, 2010, but your child will automatically be placed on a waiting list.

Buddy requests, if you have any, are final once your online registration has been submitted. Be sure to confirm your buddy requests prior to completing the registration process. (It is your responsibility to make sure you understand all buddy request policies and requirements.)

Junior Tennis Classes and Summer Camp at Almaden Country Club

[photo: lacrosse teens] GameBreaker Lacrosse Camps is holding a Lacrosse Summer Camp in Almaden Valley. The GameBreaker Lacrosse Camps are considered the finest in the country because of the coaching staff, which consists of the best coaches and players in the world today.

The lacrosse camp in Almaden Valley will be directed by Drew Virk, a former MLL San Francisco Dragon, NLL San Jose Stealth, and current Stanford University Head Coach.

The camp also feature ten skills clinics to develop all facets of each player’s game. Players will improve their stick, shooting, and defensive skills, as well as develop a greater understanding of team play – all in a fun and positive atmosphere.

To maximize improvement all campers are grouped by age and ability after individual evaluations. The camp is for athletes ages 8-18, from beginner skill level to top high school players.

The camp is at Leland High School in Almaden Valley, July 19-22, 2010, 9am-3pm daily. The camp price is $345 per player. You can

2010 Almaden Times Classic: 10K Run, 2-Mile Run, or 2-Mile Walk

Run or walk in the 18th Annual / 2010 Almaden Times Classic. Events include 10K and 2-mile timed runs, and a 2-mile walk. Proceeds benefit Almaden Valley Counseling Service. The race will take you on a beautiful paved creek trail and through some residential streets in Almaden Valley.

Awards will be given to the top three winners in each age division. Overall male and female winners in the 10K and 2-mile timed runs will also receive a gift certificate. All children will receive a ribbon. Age divisions include: 6 and under, 7-9, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Your entry fee includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, food, and beverages. Random prizes will also be handed out to participants based on race number (must be present to win). Pick up your bib number and t-shirt on race day.

The start and finish lines are at the parking lot of Leland High School in Almaden Valley. The event is Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 9am. Check-in is at 8am.

If you register online by September 22, 2010, the entry fee is $25 per adult/teen, $13 per child (12 and under), and $60 per family of four (including parents and children). If you register on race day, the fees go up to $30 per adult/teen, $15 per child, and $70 per family. Race day registration begins at 7:30am.

Spring Swim Lessons are back at the Almaden Cabana Club! The club offers small group lessons for children ranging from beginners learning to blow bubbles and put their faces in the water to competitive swimmers looking to refine their swimming strokes, diving, and flip turns.

Lessons are open to members and non-members. There are four lessons on Saturdays, from April 24 through May 15, 2010. Each lesson is 30 minutes. You can choose from the following times: 10am, 10:30am, 11am, and 11:30am. The price is only $35 for members and $45 for non-members.

All you need to do is complete the swim lesson sign-up form and drop it off along with your payment in the mailbox on the front gate of the Almaden Cabana Club. We look forward to seeing you at the pool!
